Summer Movies in the ParkJune 2nd through October 27thStarting at dusk.Locations throughout the County of San Diego.SD County Parks and RecThe series of free outdoor movie events is a collaborative effort between the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation, the Cities of San Diego, Chula Vista, El Cajon, La Mesa, Lemon Grove, National City, Oceanside, Poway, San Marcos, Vista, along with USS Midway Museum, and the Port of San Diego. Each event provides opportunities to gather as a community and build sense of community and offers residents free opportunities to safely enjoy themselves outdoors in the summer evenings.
This year, the summer movie lineup features more than 100 flicks taking place at parks throughout the county. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair, blankets and jackets.  Arrive early to enjoy games and activities before the movie starts at dusk!

Waterfront Pumpkin PatchOctober 28th Waterfront Park

SD County Parks and Rec“Pick your own pumpkin at Waterfront Park! The fun takes place Sunday, Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. We’ll have pumpkin decorating, live entertainment, a face painter, and balloon twister – even food trucks!
“A LIMITED SUPPLY OF PUMPKINS WILL BE AVAILABLE AND GIVEN AWAY TO KIDS (ONLY) ON A FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED BASIS. All ages are welcome and there’s no cost to attend. Carpooling and public transit are encouraged.”

Champions for HealthWelcome to Southern California’s ONLY Sunset Beach Run/Walk on the beach. Enjoy a fantastic Wellness Expo with fun activities for everyone while you reconnect with old friends and make new ones.
The Solana Beach Sunset 5K Run/Walk will raise funds for Champions for Health’s Community Wellness and Diabetes Prevention Programs. The Health & Wellness Programs address preventable and chronic diseases through immunizations, screenings, diabetes prevention education and the Live Well San Diego Speaker’s Bureau.

Past Events

Day of Play – Olivewood Gardens
Day of Play was an opportunity for parents and children to experience hands-on gardening, cooking, nutrition and fitness activities that connect healthy with food and food with the environment. The event encourages families to create healthy, active and adventurous lifestyles right in their own backyard or neighborhood.

Live Well SD 5K
The 2018 Live Well San Diego 5K held in partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank was held at the County Administration Building’s Waterfront Park on Sunday, July 29. This was a family and pet friendly event that went beyond the 5k to include interactive booths and entertainment for all ages. Participants who registered to be a part of the 5K run/walk not only had the opportunity to walk/run along the Embarcadero and downtown San Diego, but also received a commemorative Live Well San Diego 5K t-shirt, health snacks with vendors and access to post-race activities.

Global Big Latch On Day
The Global Latch On takes place at registered locations around the world. Women gather together to breastfeed and offer peer support to each other. Friends, family and the community joined this celebration to promote and support breastfeeding. Three WIC locations throughout the county offered spaces for women to celebrate the Global Latch On event, breastfeed and provide resources for families.

Kid Fest at Poway Branch Library

Celebrated the conclusion of Summer Learning on Sunday, August 5, 2018 from 12-2 pm by connecting with community leaders and playing a sweet family favorite. These events were free and open to the public.

Day of Play – All Abilities
Children of all abilities enjoyed outdoor activity stations including a Flying Superhero Photo Booth, Mini Car Wash, Wheelchair Awareness Course, Sports Zone, Literacy Duck Pond, V.T. Raceway, and Dig It Sand Box. Throughout the event, guests also enjoyed a variety of entertaining performances at the All Abilities Stage, such as the Wheelchair Dancers, sports demonstrations and other local dance groups. Over 40 resource services and providers for children of all abilities were conveniently onsite to speak with parents and provide resources. The Shiley Eye Mobile provided free vision screenings for children as well.
