August is National Breastfeeding Month. This year’s theme is RISE: resilience, interdependence, self-determination, empowerment.
Breast milk is full of antibodies, enzymes, bioactive factors, and nutrients that builds immunity and protection against devastating disease—great for babies who are growing and developing! Breastfeeding also benefits the parent by lowering their risk of breast cancer, ovarian cancer, Type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.
However, when a mother’s own milk is not available and formula isn’t the right fit, donor milk can be a gentle, trusted option.
Our friends at UC Health Milk Bank believes every baby deserves access to safe, high-quality, pasteurized human milk. They provide services to families in need of donor milk and NICU’s in the San Diego region, giving them life-sustaining nutrition to thrive.
