Parks Child Development Center Outdoor Learning Environment Ribbon Cutting Event

Congratulations to Child Development Associates (CDA) for opening the doors of the National City Parks Child Development Center playground on July 28th. Earlier this year, the First 5 San Diego Quality Preschool Initiative (QPI) awarded CDA a grant of $246,000 to help transform the National City Parks Child Development Center playground into a unique outdoor learning environment. This project, designed by Rooted In Place Landscape Architecture and Consulting, promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) learning through art, science, and nature. Approximately 100 low income children, ages 3-4 years old, are provided a better path to success at the National City Parks Child Development Center.

Child Development Associates, Inc. (CDA) is a community based, non-profit agency with nearly 200 employees dedicated to creating positive change in our local community. CDA believes that all families deserve access to quality early care, education and supportive services that will promote children’s healthy development and future success. CDA takes an active role in child care issues at the local, county and statewide level to help support children, parents, and child care providers. CPA operates three state subsidized full-day preschool centers in southern San Diego County, and is the largest sponsor, in the State of California, of the Federal USDA Child Care Food Program.
