Olivewood Garden and Learning Center’s Day of Play
On Saturday, July 15, Olivewood Gardens and Learning Center hosted a fun, family-friendly Day of Play festival in National City. This free community event offered hands-on gardening, healthy foods and nutrition activities, physical fitness activities, take-home crafts and free tastings from a selection of Olivewood recipes for the whole family. First 5 San Diego sponsored the event, along with other community organizations such as UnitedHealthcare, Wells Fargo, and Point Loma Credit Union.
Live Well San Diego 5K
More than 2,600 runners and walkers came together on July 30th to enjoy some physical activity and family fun in the sun at the fourth annual Live Well San Diego 5K! The Live Well San Diego 5K is an annual event that brings thousands of San Diegans together for a run/walk and an interactive, family-friendly Discovery Expo in support of a healthy, safe and thriving San Diego County. In partnership with the San Diego Blood Bank, this year’s event was an opportunity for participants to be physically active, enjoy quality time with their neighbors and community members and connect with dozens of participating partners sharing information and resources. Benefitting the life-saving work of the San Diego Blood Bank, this event also supports the County’s Live Well San Diego vision of a San Diego region that is Building Better Health, Living Safely, and Thriving.
