Their goal is to engage and educate lower-income families in San Diego communities so that they can seek out various local providers of health-related services to help them build happier and healthier lives. The Health Fair is a free event that is open to the public, and includes representation from a wide variety local health providers and mobile clinics for all to enjoy! The event will be providing free flu shots, medial screenings and much more. |

The event encourages families to visit parks and recreation facilities for year around use throughout San Diego County. First 5 Express Tour – Stop #1

On October 19, 2018 the First 5 of California Express Tour made its way to San Diego County. During their first visit, the tour hosted a Toddler/Infant Storytime Extravaganza at the Bonita/Sunnyside County Library. This event attracted approximately 100 youngster and their families. The activities for the day encouraged children and caretakers to “Talk. Read. Sing.” The Talk. Read. Sign message promotes healthy brain development through meaningful interactions with toddlers and young children through interactive family activities and reading.

First 5 Express Tour – Stop #2

On October 20, 2018 the First 5 of California Express Tour completed its final day of the express tour in San Diego County. During their visit they hosted a toddler/infant story time at the La Mesa County Library. The library held their “Star Wars Reads Day”. This event attracted approximately 75 youngster and their families. The activities for the day encouraged children and caretakers to “Talk. Read. Sing.” The Talk. Read. Grandparents Raising Grandchildren – South

The Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) Workgroup is a group of service providers that are dedicated to connecting relative caregivers to resources in their communities through resource symposiums, workshops, parent education, respite care, support groups and other vital necessities. These resources serve to educate and empower grandparents along with other relatives who are raising children throughout San Diego County.
Waterfront Pumpkin Patch

Each year the San Diego County of Parks and Recreation in conjunction with the San Diego Parks Society host the Waterfront Pumpkin Patch. This event provides an opportunity for families to create and celebrate family traditions and encourages families to visit parks and recreation facilities for year round use. The waterfront pumpkin patch is a child friendly environment with interactive entertainment.
Faith Chapel – Family Fall Festival

Trunk or Treat 2018 was a FREE family event that encouraged families with children to engage in outside physical activity while still enjoying the holiday in a safe fun environment. The theme this year was SUPERHEROES. Faith Chapel had 50+ cars decorated where children could get different surprises. There was also a special area for children 5 and under. This event hosted face painting, a video game truck, a balloon artist, multiple jumpers, the San Miguel Fire station fire truck, the San Diego Public Library Book Mobile, First 5 San Diego and a safe and fun environment for kids and families to enjoy the evening.
