Head, hand, heart speaks to First 5 San Diego’s philosophy of the need to care for the whole child during the first years of life.

First 5 San Diego promotes the health and well being of young children during their most critical years of development, from the prenatal stage through five years of age. Our goal is to help ensure that every child in San Diego County enters school ready to succeed.  

First 5 San Diego provides San Diego’s youngest children with access to health care, growth and development screenings and services, dental care, obesity prevention, quality child care and early education programs and family support.

First 5 San Diego programs and services are funded through San Diego County’s portion of the State’s Proposition 10  tax revenues.  Programs and services are funded based on local needs and priorities and fit within the Commission’s goals.
