We see early childhood education is critical for the proper development and well-being of children. Research has shown that providing a high quality education for children
before the age of five can yield significant short-term and long-term benefits for the child and their parents. For example, studies show that children who attend comprehensive early childhood education programs are better prepared to adjust to classroom settings. Additionally, these children are more ready and willing to learn, demonstrate greater cognitive abilities, and show greater motivation for learning. Furthermore, children receiving an early childhood education are more likely to succeed in school further down the road.
Research has shown that well educated young children generally show a higher commitment to schooling and are more likely to graduate and pursue post-secondary or training. These children demonstrate better social and emotional competence, show greater sociability with other children and with adults, and demonstrate improved health and nutritional practices. Early childhood education had been shown to result in children being viewed by their mothers and by others as more competent. Finally, studies have shown families tend to be more prideful of early educated children, which may result in improved family ties and stronger relationships between children and their parents.
