Family Things to do in the Fall


Fall in San Diego brings many fun events for families to enjoy.  Celebrate the season with these fall-tastic activities:

Apple Picking in Julian
Julian, located 40 miles northeast of San Diego, is home to many apple farms, allowing visitors to purchase or pick their own apples.  Apple picking season begins in September and continues through mid-October (or until the apples are gone).  >>List of orchards events.

Kids Free in October
Children ages 12 and under will receive free admission to more than 30 local museums with an adult ticket purchase. >>More information

Fleet Week San Diego
Fleet Week San Diego 2014 takes place September 9-October 5.  The celebration honors and celebrates the men and women of the military through public events that thank and support these heroes, including the Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival (September 20- 21) and the MCAS Miramar Air Show (October 3-5).  >>Fleet Week Details

Bates Nut Farm’s Pumpkin Patch
The Bates Nut Farm Pumpkin Patch is a fall tradition, offering tractor hay rides, a straw maze and farm zoo.  Weekends feature live entertainment, pony rides, food and other family friendly events.  The patch opens September 24 and ends October 31.  >>Additional Details
