First 5 San Diego has partnered with the New Children’s Museum for First 5 First Fridays, a toddler program to be held every first Friday each month.  The program is designed to benefit the whole child and support healthy bodies and minds through music, movement, and social play.  The initial First 5 First Fridays event, “A Fun Story Time,” launched on Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

“We are excited to team up with an organization like New Children’s Museum for a variety of reasons,” said Kim Medeiros, executive director of First 5 San Diego. “Both organizations are committed to promoting the health and well-being of children, and this partnership advances that cause in an engaging and creative setting.”

The events will engage participating caregivers through fun activities that can be performed at home and will promote each child’s physical, social and cognitive development.

“We are offering hands-on experiences led by trained facilitators that will stimulate creativity and help develop critical thinking skills and confidence,” said Julianne Markow, chief executive officer and executive director of the New Children’s Museum. “First 5 San Diego is the perfect partner to help us expand our programming because of a shared belief in nurturing and educating our youngest visitors.”

Events will take place at the New Children’s Museum located at 200 W. Island Ave., San Diego, Calif. 92101 at 10:30 a.m. every first Friday of the month.  The next event, “Nightingale Music School,” will take place on Friday, March 7, 2014.
