Feb. 5, 2014 — First 5 San Diego has partnered with the New Children’s Museum (NCM) to launch First 5 First Fridays, a monthly program geared toward children ages four and under. The first Friday of every month, First 5 San Diego will team up with NCM to host facilitated toddler workshops, which benefit the whole child and support healthy bodies and minds with music, movement and social play for young children. The events will be held at NCM located at 200 West Island Avenue in downtown San Diego.
“We are excited to team up with an organization like New Children’s Museum for a variety of reasons,” said First 5 San Diego Executive Director Kim Medeiros. “Both organizations are committed to promoting the health and well-being of children, and this partnership advances that cause in an engaging and creative setting.”
‘A Fun Story Time’ is the theme of the initial First 5 First Fridays event. This program is recommended for children ages four and under.
“We are offering hands-on experiences led by trained facilitators that will stimulate creativity and help develop critical thinking skills and confidence,” said New Children’s Museum Executive Director/CEO Julianne Markow. “First 5 San Diego is the perfect partner to help us expand our programming because of a shared belief in nurturing and educating our youngest visitors.”
Programs also engage participating caretakers through fun activities that can be performed at home. All programs are designed to promote the child’s physical, social and cognitive development.
