Nedra Bickel is a retired educator with 20 years of experience with the Los Angeles School District. The latter half of her career was spent working with four and five-year-olds in Kindergarten and early Kindergarten settings. She chaired the Kindergarten Committee and worked with parents, teachers and administrators to develop and implement best practices. She worked with the San Diego Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) and served as a facilitator for parent workshops and as a liaison between parents and PIQE.
Prior to her service to children and parents in the east Los Angeles community, Ms. Bickel worked as a Public Information Officer and an Urban Planner for the County of Los Angeles. She also served on the Santa Monica Commission on the Status of Women and on the Board of the Santa Monica League of Women Voters.
Ms. Bickel’s formal education includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from Hofstra University and a Master’s candidacy from the School of Urban Planning/Environmental Design from Cal Poly, Pomona.
Ms. Bickel’s family includes three grown children and six grandchildren.
