American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) Experience Coming to San Diego
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) is hosting the 2014 AAP National Conference and Exhibition (AAP Experience) on October 11-14, 2014 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. The event is the world’s largest pediatric medical education event, attended by 9,000 pediatricians, interns, residents, students, and allied health professionals each year.
AAP President James Perrin, MD, FAAP, will kick off the event with an update on AAP efforts to advance AAP’s Agenda for Children and Rear Admiral Bruce L. Gillingham, United States Navy, will give welcoming remarks. Rick Guidotti, founder of the not-for-profit organization Positive Exposure, will provide the keynote address which includes a photo and video presentation that explores social and psychological experiences of people living with genetic, physical, cognitive and behavioral conditions of all ages and ethno-cultural heritages. Other topics presented will include Predicting the Future of Pediatrics, The Status of Gene Therapy in Children, This is Your Child’s Brain on Computers: How Our Kids Can Thrive in a Digital Age, Economics of Poverty in Children, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and more. Since 2006, the American Academy of Pediatrics-California Chapter 3 (AAP-CA3) has provided countywide coordination and support to First 5 San Diego’s Healthy Development Services (HDS), which provides developmental and behavioral screening, assessment, and treatment services for children ages 0 through 5 and their families in San Diego County.
