Nine Months Matter

Nine Months Matter is a movement to ensure that women are having healthy alcohol-free pregnancies. This year’s event was held on September 23rd, 2017 at Liberty Station’s North Promenade. The event was hosted by UC San Diego’s Center for Better Beginnings in partnership with the Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego Auxiliary and SoCal NOFAS.

Solana Beach Sunset 5K Run/Walk

2017 wast the 4th annual Solana Beach Sunset 5K. Hosted by Champions for Health, this event promotes healthy and active lifestyles to reduce preventable diseases. Funds raised this year will be used to launch the foundation’s Diabetes Prevention Program.

Ready for 4th! Launch – Logan Heights Public Library

First 5 San Diego attended the READY for 4th! Campaign for Grade Level Reading Launch event on Tuesday, October 17th from 4:30-7:00 at the beautiful Logan Heights Branch Library. The event included a free distribution of books to all youth ages 0-18 (courtesy of the National Book Foundation through the Book Rich Environment initiative) activities for the whole family, speakers to announce San Diego’s participation in the Campaign and entertainment for children.
Jack-O-Smash

The Jack-O-Smash event include 1,5,10, and 15k races and a “Family Fun Festival”. The event promotes awareness for special needs children and families of special needs families. All event proceeds are distrubuted equally to the PUSH Special Needs Foundation, Abraxas High School’s “Transitions Program” and the Poway Kiwanis club.
Waterfront Pumpkin Patch

Each year the San Diego County of Parks and Recreation in conjuntion with the San Deigo Parks Society host the Waterfront Pumpkin Patch. This event provides an opportunity for families to create and celebrate family traditions and encourage families to vist parks and recreation facilities for year round use. The waterfront pumpkin patch is a child friendly environment with interactive entertainment.
