The flowers aren’t the only thing springing up in San Diego. Many events will be in full bloom over the next few months. Mark your calendar, roll up your sleeves and get your family outside to enjoy the upcoming local festivities this summer.

Here you’ll find some meaningful ideas you can choose from that won’t deplete your wallet and go as far as the word – supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Padres Game at Petco Park
No matter who you are cheering for, heading to a ball game in San Diego is the ultimate sports fan family experience! The stadium offers many family-friendly seating areas from a beach area where kids can play in a sand pit while parents have an eye-level view of the game, to a park where families can just lay out blankets and chairs while the kids visit the playground or run bases at the mini baseball field. Go to www.padres.com to see the 2015 Game Schedule.

Balboa Park
Balboa Park offers so many different adventures for families with children. With a variety of museums and attractions and 1,200 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, Balboa Park is a special place for families to spend time together. Kids crazy about cars, trains and planes or dinosaurs, planets or sports or art, flowers and animals will all find something to savor during a day in the Park. Kid-friendly best bets include the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center, San Diego Natural History Museum, San Diego Air & Space Museum, Marie Hitchcock Puppet Theatre, San Diego Automotive Museum, San Diego Hall of Champions, the San Diego Model Railroad Museum, and, of course, the San Diego Zoo. The Balboa Park Passport allows families to experience the many museums at half the price. Visit www.balboapark.org.

Del Mar Fair
The San Diego County Fair at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is one of the top 10 largest fairs in the country drawing more than 1.4 million visitors each year. This year, the theme is “A Fair to Remember: a Celebration of the World’s Fairs and Balboa Park” in honor of the centennial anniversary of the 1915 Panama-California Exposition in Balboa Park and the great traditions and inventions arising from fairs. The fair will open on June 5th and continues through July 5th. Every Tuesday is Kids Day where special kids’ activities are planned throughout the day. For more information, visit www.sdfair.com.

Summer Movies in the Park
