First 5 San Diego Receives Oral Health Policy Champion Award
The First 5 Commission of San Diego is delighted to be a recipient of the 2014 Live Well San Diego Oral Health Policy Champion Award, for the Commission’s work with fluoridation and commitment to protecting and promoting the oral health of residents in San Diego County. The distinguished award, presented by the Dental Health Initiative/Share the Care (DHI/STC) program, honors those who have influenced policy change to improve oral health outcomes.
On March 6, 2014, Supervisor Ron Roberts, former Chair of the First 5 Commission, and Executive Director Kim Medeiros accepted the award at the San Diego County Oral Health Forum held at the County of San Diego Services Health Complex in San Diego, Calif. Other recipients include Senator Joel Anderson, Senator Marty Block, Senator Ben Hueso, Senator Mark Wyland, Assemblymember Toni Atkins, Assemblymember Lorena Gonzalez, and Assemblymember Shirley Weber.
The DHI/STC program is a public-private partnership between the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency, the San Diego County Dental and Dental Hygienist’s Societies and the San Diego County Dental Coalition that works collaboratively to ensure optimal oral health for residents in San Diego County.
