COUNTY HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES AGENCY APPOINTS NEW DEPUTY DIRECTOR
Barbara Jiménez Appointed to Oversee Operations in the North Coastal and North Inland Regions
The County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Barbara Jiménez as the new Deputy Director for the North Coastal and North Inland Regions.
Jiménez has over 21 years of experience in the planning, management and delivery of social and human services for the County of San Diego, Health and Human Services Agency. Currently she is the Executive Director of First 5 San Diego and is responsible for directing First 5 San Diego investments in a variety of services that support the health and well-being of pregnant women and young children.
The County is fortunate to have someone like Barbara, who has risen through the County ranks and contributed to the community in so many ways throughout her career,” said Walt Ekard, Chief Administrative Officer, County of San Diego. “She is a tremendous asset to the county and will continue to do great work for the County’s Health and Human Services Agency.”
Prior to her position at First 5 San Diego, Jiménez managed and directed a variety of countywide programs committed to improving the lives of economically disadvantaged families and individuals including overseeing the County of San Diego Child Care Programs, Community Action Partnership and the Office of Violence Prevention.
“Jiménez brings proven leadership skills that will further assist HHSA in its implementation efforts of the County’s Health Strategy Agenda, Building Better Health,” said Nick Macchione, HHSA Director.
The North Coastal and Inland Regions Deputy Director is responsible for developing and enhancing partnerships with key stakeholders including consumers, providers, businesses and other organizations to ensure family and community needs are met in the most efficient and cost-effective way possible.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to oversee the great programs that are in the North Coastal and Inland regions,” said Jiménez. “I am fortunate that I was able to take part in the HHSA Management Fellowship program. Through the program I had the opportunity to shadow Donna Hand, the North Regions Deputy Director, and am already familiar with the staff and community partners.”
Jiménez will continue her duties as the Executive Director of First 5 San Diego until a replacement is found.
